Number one on the List is ( Drum 🥁 roll please)
Gladiator
I remember watching this and being blown away by the beautiful visual shots and the epic storyline ( Yes admittedly it is very close to the classic that is Spartacus) But for me this is the better film 🎞.
Russell Crowe does a fantastic job of Conquering soldier turned slave turned hero of the people.
A film that not only looks beautiful but is beautiful a true classic ( by the way it is also going very cheaply on iTunes at the moment for a limited time I think it cost me £3.99 for the extended edition plus iTunes extras ..Bargain)
Number Two on the list is
The Green Mile
Now I love Stephen King and 9 times out of 10 It has to be said film translations of his books don’t transfer over well. The green Mile is a strange beast of a film but it doesn’t quite follow the books closely ( The Green mile was in 12 don’t quote me mini novels when it was released.
The film is magical as it just draws you in. To put it in perspective my family is quite a large one so there is usually very little quiet 🤫 in the household, yet while this film was on various family members arrived and each one sat down and watched at different points in the movie. Conversation just stopped and we were mesmerised by the acting and the story.
It would literally evoke emotions about every character and that is a magical feat.
So moving onto number three in my top 4 list
You’ll be hard pressed to find anybody who doesn’t love this film. Another Stephen King story ( It was based on a short story that was supposed to be about the character “Red” and not Andy).
It is no spoiler to say that he is wrongly convicted and put into prison and that is where the story comes into its own. The casting is amazing and again your emotions are tickled by persons that you shouldn’t really like but you do.
This film has been the IMDB number one for who knows how long and for good reason.
Number four is coming up and you may be surprised
Young Guns II
Ok 👌 now I love the First Young Guns it was after all the first what I would consider Modern Western but what I love about the second film is not only the foundations of it being based on a true story of somebody claiming to be Billy The Kid.
Man it has to be the soundtrack that tops this film off. Heart wrenching story telling songs written and inspired by the young guns movie by Jon Bon Jovi.
The cast and chemistry is beautiful and believable. This was like the the rat pack of the 90’s in one film.
There are many others but it was hard due to the fact they’re in sets such as Back to the future, lethal weapon,Beverley Hills cop to name a few but maybe at some stage I’ll go through them.
This was to be a top five list but Harvey has decided the best place to fall asleep 😴 is on my arms, which is making it rather difficult to continue 😂.
Till next time,
