Asleep on my Lap
You lie there asleep on my Lap,
unaware of sounds around you,
Running through the field,
during your doggie nap,
I wonder of the dreams,
running through your mind,
The canine thoughts,
full of loyalty so blind,
The house would be a quieter place,
without you there,
Without those wagging tails,
A place so bare,
A sad day changes ,
when you two are around,
Happy to see us after a hard day,
with that barking sound.
